Being sick, and other things…..

After being sick for the past two days, it’s nice to be back out into civilization!  I hate calling in sick to work!  Especially because I know that it throws off the flow of the day for my co-teacher.  Blech. Glad that’s over.  On the plus side, I lost 4 pounds!

Speaking of work, Jeremy was blessed with a snow plowing job for this last surprise storm we had.  It’s tough work! He says that it’s like getting into mini car accidents every time you hit the plow into the snow.  Needless to say when he got home at 3:30 in the morning, he took some ibuprofen.  Good thinking, kid.

We started our small group this week.  We are leading a home group for  young adults who attend our young adult ministry at our church. Here’s a link to the church website if you want to find out any information on it or our services.  The first book we are diving into is called “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan.( Crazy Love Book Link ) It seems to be a good thinking book.  Something that really challenges what you think about God.  Looking forward to next week!

Being in ministry is a big step for us.  We have made some worldly sacrifices, and have had to set certain things aside to make room for God to move.  It’s hard to do that, but looking back we really don’t miss anything we’ve given up.  Let me give you an example: On a normal Tuesday, we would sit on our butts and watch television. Now, we invite young adults into our home to worship and talk about our relationship with the Lord.  See?  We really aren’t missing anything fancy.  Same thing for Wednesdays. Usually, we would sit around on our butts and watch television yet again, but now we are at church serving in the WiFi ministry. It’s nice to have met so many wonderful people in the process of getting involved!  It’s amazing how comfortable you get in old habits.  I can’t believe we used to just watch TV EVERY night of the week!!!  We actually haven’t even been watching much television except on Saturdays. We catch up on the DVR on Saturdays, and then Sunday is when I usually organize (my new obsession thanks to Pinterest ) and clean while  listening  to iTunes.  Even right now the television is off.  Strange how we even kept it on just for the sound.

Anyhoos.  I have a dump cake in the oven that I need to check on. We’re taking it to a meeting/party tonight.  Hopefully it turns out well. I’ll take a picture and maybe I’ll post it on the next blog.  Ooooh…I should do the recipe too!  Check back soon!

Ta,

Lisa
